HOW WE HELP

In order to help NMRC is providing assistance for Native American/American Indian families and individuals, who reside within the Nebraska Panhandle.
We are offering the following short term financial assistance  for needs created as a result of the current Coronavirus epidemic.

  • Housing Rent/mortgage Payment Assistance

    • Housing assistance will be provided for families who cannot pay their rent or mortgage. Rent will be paid by NMRC directly to the rental properties and mortgages will be paid via a voucher to participants. Priority for housing support will be given to those facing foreclosure and eviction to prevent homelessness.

  • Meal Delivery for the Elderly, Sick or Disabled

    • NMRC will provide meal delivery services for residents who are elderly, have no form of transportation, or are sick or disabled. NMRC will pick up the food, pay for the food and deliver the food to individuals and families living in Haysprings, Rushville, Chadron, Crawford, Valentine areas.

  • Emergency Food Vouchers (Participating Grocery Locations)

    • NMRC will provide food vouchers from local groceries for families once per month. Families will be required to show proof of receipt of items purchased to ensure healthy food is what is being purchased. If the program is abused and non-food items or alcohol are purchased, they will be dropped from the program.

  • Emergency Travel & Lodging Assistance for Health Care

    • This program will fund travel and lodging for Native American families/individuals who must travel from the NE panhandle to the reservation or referral locations to receive emergency health care. This includes care for medical and psychiatric conditions that affect overall wellbeing, such as diabetes, depression, heart disease, and respiratory illness. Participants must show proof they are: members of an American Indian Tribe; living in the NE panhandle. There will be a limit on assistance so others have an opportunity to receive support.
