HISTORICAL TRAUMA IN INDIAN COUNTRY

About the Event

In this session we identify History through the eyes of the Lakota people. We also identify the mythology of American History, from the doctrine of discovery to the acts of dehumanization; from the myth of equality to the policies of genocide and displacement; the myth of expansion to the practice of ethnic cleansing; and the need to create "common memories" in order to heal Historical Trauma. In this session we will identify the Lakota experience of stolen land, broken treaties, slavery, ethnic cleansing, segregation, interment camps and boarding schools.
